BOOM! FILM TOPICS
If you need inspiration on what to make your film about -why not tackle one of the MTV BOOM! issues-
Do The Green Thing
Like everyone at BOOM! and MTV Switch,
Green Thing believes that green can be fun.
Green Thing suggests seven things you can do - and enjoy doing - to make
your environment greener.
We want you to make a BOOM! film incorporating one or more of the
seven Green Things suggested. Not only can you then enter your Green
Thing film into the BOOM! awards - but it could also be used by Green
Thing on their website - to show others how easy and fun it can be to be
green.
-
1. You can get from A to B without any C when you Walk The Walk. Or
cycle. Or skateboard.
-
2. It causes more CO2 than cars so go Easy On The Meat.

extra layer - or put on the person you love.
-
5. Use every last scrap of paper, use a pen until the ink runs dry and
squeeze the last of the toothpaste out of the tube: All-Consuming.
-
6. Stay Grounded. Try holidaying in your own country or your own city.
-
7. Don't leave that charger or console on when you're not using it, Plug
Out.

Increased Youth Violence And Specifically Knife Crime
Questions for the film maker to consider...
-

-
Are young people stereotyped by the media?
-
Is the media hyping youth violence?
-
Does this make things worse?
-
What can be done to decrease instances of youth violence?
-
Punishment, Investment or Understanding?
-
Fear or Fashion?
-
Is reputation important?
-
Are some kids lacking hope for the future?
-
Do some young people hide behind excuses like lack of opportunity?
Think Positive!
While it may sometimes seem easier to focus on negative issues, problems and bad news when choosing a topic to make a film about, it’s worth remembering that we all have positive stories to tell and share that would make excellent subjects for a BOOM! film. Here are some ideas to consider:
-
What inspiring things have happened in your community in 2009?
- How have they affected you or your community?
-
What’s the best thing that’s happened in the past year to your youth club, to yourself or to someone close to you?
-
What do you want for your future?
- What are your hopes and aspirations?
-
What will you do differently in 2009?
-
How could you make a positive difference to your community?
- What would you change and why?
